Fair Use Policy
Our Fair Use Policy ensures optimal performance for all customers by defining reasonable resource usage limits.
1. Introduction
At Namence, we strive to provide reliable, high-performance hosting services to all our customers. This Fair Use Policy is designed to ensure that the resources we provide are used efficiently and that no single customer's usage negatively impacts the experience of others sharing the same infrastructure.
This policy applies to all Namence services, with specific focus on shared hosting environments where resources are allocated among multiple users. While our VPS and dedicated server plans offer dedicated resources, certain limitations may still apply for network stability and security.
2. Resource Allocations
Each hosting plan comes with specific resource allocations. These resources include but are not limited to:
3. Shared Hosting Resource Limits
Our shared hosting plans operate on a shared environment where resources are distributed among multiple users. To ensure fair usage, the following limitations apply:
3.1 CPU Usage
Shared hosting accounts are allocated a specific percentage of the server's CPU resources. Usage is considered excessive when:
- CPU usage exceeds 25% of total server CPU resources for more than 90 seconds continuously
- Regular and consistent CPU spikes that affect other users on the shared server
- Running resource-intensive applications, cron jobs, or scripts that consume disproportionate resources
3.2 Memory Usage
Each shared hosting plan includes a specified amount of RAM. Excessive usage includes:
- Memory usage consistently exceeding the allocated amount for your plan
- Memory leaks in custom applications that gradually consume more resources
- Running memory-intensive applications not suited for shared hosting environments
3.3 Disk Space
While we provide generous disk space allocations, the following uses are not permitted:
- Using the service primarily as a file storage or backup repository unrelated to website hosting
- Storing large media libraries that aren't integrated with your website content
- Storing backups of content from other websites or servers
- Offering download services, free or paid file hosting, or media streaming services beyond typical website usage
3.4 Inodes
Inodes represent files, directories, and email messages. For shared hosting, the limits are:
- Basic plans: Maximum of 250,000 inodes
- Professional plans: Maximum of 500,000 inodes
- Business plans: Maximum of 1,000,000 inodes
Exceeding these limits can impact server performance and backup operations.
3.5 Bandwidth Usage
We provide specific bandwidth allocations for each plan. The following are considered excessive use:
- Consistent bandwidth usage approaching or exceeding plan limits
- Traffic spikes that affect server performance for other users
- Hosting streaming media, game servers, or other high-bandwidth applications not suited for shared environments
3.6 Database Usage
Database operations require significant server resources. The following limitations apply:
- Maximum database size: 4GB per database for shared hosting plans
- Maximum concurrent database connections: 15-30 (depending on plan)
- Database queries exceeding 30 seconds in execution time may be terminated
- Excessive writes to database tables that impact server performance
4. VPS and Dedicated Server Resource Limits
While VPS and dedicated server plans provide allocated resources for exclusive use, the following limitations still apply:
4.1 Network Usage
Network bandwidth is allocated according to plan specifications. Uses that are not permitted include:
- Running public proxies, VPNs, or TOR exit nodes
- Network broadcast or multicast usage that affects network infrastructure
- Sending or receiving data that violates our Abuse Policy
- Sustained bandwidth usage exceeding plan allocations
4.2 I/O Operations
I/O (Input/Output) operations refer to how frequently your server reads from or writes to the disk. Excessive I/O usage includes:
- Sustained I/O operations that exceed 5MB/s for SSD-based services
- Constant high I/O workloads that impact the underlying hardware
- Poorly optimized applications that result in excessive disk activity
5. Monitoring and Enforcement
We continuously monitor server resources to ensure optimal performance for all customers. Our monitoring systems include:
- Real-time resource usage tracking
- Historical performance analytics
- Automated alerts for excessive resource usage
- Regular system audits
5.1 Notification Process
If we detect excessive resource usage, we will take the following steps:
- Initial notification: We will contact you via email with details about the excessive resource usage.
- Recommendation: We will provide suggestions for optimizing your website or application.
- Plan upgrade recommendation: If appropriate, we may suggest upgrading to a plan better suited to your needs.
- Warning: If the issue persists, a formal warning will be issued with a timeframe for resolution.
5.2 Actions for Non-Compliance
If excessive resource usage continues after notification and warning, we may take one or more of the following actions:
- Temporarily throttle CPU or I/O resources to reduce impact on other users
- Temporarily suspend specific processes or services causing excessive load
- Automatically upgrade your account to a more suitable plan (with notice)
- Temporarily suspend the hosting account until the issue is resolved
- In severe cases, terminate the service in accordance with our Terms of Service
6. Recommended Practices
To avoid exceeding resource limits, we recommend the following best practices:
- Optimize your website code and database queries
- Implement caching (page caching, object caching, browser caching)
- Compress and optimize images and media files
- Use a Content Delivery Network (CDN) for static content
- Schedule resource-intensive tasks during off-peak hours
- Regularly clean up old files, logs, and database tables
- Monitor your own resource usage through your hosting control panel
- Choose the appropriate hosting plan for your needs
7. Policy Updates
This Fair Use Policy may be updated from time to time to reflect changes in technology, business practices, or regulatory requirements. The most current version will always be posted on our website. By continuing to use our services after any revisions take effect, you agree to be bound by the revised policy.
